Honourable Mick Veitch

The Hon. MICK VEITCH : Anyone who is a parent, or a grandparent, knows the ongoing concern and worry one has for the welfare, safety and wellbeing of children. We all know that gut-wrenching feeling when one hears on the radio or television of the death of or serious injury to a toddler, whether it has occurred from a backyard pool mishap, a playful misadventure or a motor vehicle accident. We all have shaken our heads with heartfelt sorrow when we hear of a toddler having been accidentally reversed over by a parent, another relative or a family friend. The grief and guilt felt by parents in such circumstances must be overwhelming.
